A romantic Maison de Maitre, this is a house dating from 1862. It has high ceilings, oak floors and stone fireplaces in the three ground-floor reception rooms. There are five double bedrooms, two of which have a balcony, and one which has an en-suite shower room. Otherwise, there is another shower room upstairs and a bath/utility room on the ground floor.Enter the centrally placed front door to a hallway with lovely original tiled floors.

The bright sitting-room is to the left, with a hugeoriginal stone fireplace oak floor and high oak beamed ceiling. To the rear, one finds the "music-room", again with a fireplace and lots of light. Across the hall lies a superb dining-room with yet another stone fireplace, panneling and beams. The property is situated in the peaceful hamlet of Villard, just a couple of minutes from the charming small town of Mareuil-sur-Belle, which is roughly half way between the historic cities of Angouleme and Perigueux on the D939, and only forty minutes or so from either. Mareuil has shops, a supermarket, banks schools and other facilities, everything in fact that is needed in everyday life. Also near at hand is the somewhat larger town of Riberac, with its excellent Friday market. There are easy transport links to international destinations from Bergerac and Limoges, and T.G.V. rail within France from Angouleme.

Because of its overall size and number of rooms, this is an ideal family house. On the other hand, situated as it is in the Dordogne region of France, well known as a popular tourist destination, it is a house that would lend itself perfectly to Chambre d'Hote or Bed and Breakfast accomodation.
