This pretty house is set in a pleasant garden with a secluded swimming pool. The property is in Castell de Montornes, a residential area of individual houses built during the 1990s on generous plots on the slopes of the hills above the charming old village of La Pobla de Montornes. Only a few kilometres away are the golden beaches and coves of the Costa Dorada. The seaside town of Torredembarra 6kms to the south has all the facilities one could want, a huge, safe beach and no lager louts! 12kms along the coast is the splendid historic city of Tarragona, with its Roman remains. The location is between the coast and the mountains and those who enjoy walking will find a wide variety of footpaths close at hand. Catalonia has a pleasant climate and this is an area of vinyards, olive groves, hazelnut trees and almond orchards.

The property is surrounded by hedges and walls and a pair of white wrought-iron gates keep it secure. The kidney-shaped swimming pool is on the right of the stone paved drive. Shade in the garden is provided by a huge aspidistra close to the barbecue, a fine magnolia grandifolia and a mulberry tree trained over the stone outdoor table and benches. There is space to park 2 cars on the drive.

Steps from the garden lead up to the front door. The accommodation on this main floor consists of the small but convenient kitchen, the living room (with dining and sitting areas) leading through sliding glass doors to the covered balcony, which is furnished with a large table and six chairs. Canvas curtains can be drawn around the front of the balcony to give shade (often needed at breakfast time when the sun is low,) or shelter if it's windy.

Also on this floor is bedroom 3 with a very comfortable single bed, and a wardrobe. Next door is the second bathroom with a spacious, walk-in shower, WC, and washbasin in a vanitory unit.
Stairs lead up to the top floor and down to the ground floor garage/utility area.

On the top floor is the master bedroom with sliding glass doors opening on to a semi-circular balcony the full width of the house, with panoramic views of the hills on two sides and to the south, the Mediterranean. There is an awning above the windows and a revolving fan above the central light. A large built-in cupboard to ceiling height provides a lot of storage space.

The family bathroom is fully tiled and has modern white fittings comprising a full-sized bath with shower over, a bidet, WC and washbasin . Next door is bedroom 2. This bedroom takes twin beds but could have a double bed. There is an awning fitted outside the window.

The ground floor consists of a garage with up-and-over door, a semi-circular space ideal for storing garden chairs, beach toys, barbecue tools etc. and at the far end is an area used as a workshop, the laundry area and a third WC.
The Baxi-Roca oil-fired central heating boiler and the large oil storage tank adjoin the workshop. The whole of this very large area has a tiled floor and makes a good play area for children on wet days. Stairs lead up to the main level.

Recently, natural gas became available in our street and the necessary work has been done to allow for changing to gas heating and cooking at any time in the future. In the garage is the connection point for a gas meter.

The house is furnished with good quality pine furniture and comfortable beds. It is offered for sale furnished and with most of the equipment and is ready for new owners to move in.

The owner purchased the house in 2002 and has lived there much of the time since then, and for several years, the house has paid its overheads through holiday lettings in the summer. Having a garden and pool, is very easy to let.

A few more notes about the property:

The habitable surface of the house is 113.18 square metres. All floors and stairs are tiled.
In the secluded 533 square metre garden you can always find some shade when it’s hot.

The swimming pool is 8 m x 3.48 m. Depth from 1.30m to 2.00m. There is under-water lighting and all the maintenance equipment is in an underground poolhouse. Alongside the pool is a red hibiscus hedge and between garden and the road privacy is provided by a tall evergreen hedge. Beside the pool is an outdoor shower.

At the top of the garden is a brick & tile outbuilding (the Caseta) where garden tools etc. are stored. This has electric light and a power socket.

Oil-fired central heating : there are radiators in all rooms. The Baxi-Roca boiler is 3 years old and has been regularly serviced.

A solar panel above the front door porch provides domestic hot water for most of the year. Very little fuel oil is used except for central heating in winter.

All the windows are double glazed and have wrought iron security bars and insect-proof mesh as well as metal roller blinds.
The villa is connected to mains drainage and mains water. There is a reverse osmosis filter under the kitchen sink which guarantees very good drinking water.

Broadband internet connection is available though not connected at present.

A bus to Torredembarra stops hourly within 150 metres of the house.
Mainline train station at Torredembarra, to Barcelona (65 minutes) or Tarragona (11 minutes)
Barcelona Airport can be reached by train, changing at Barcelona Sants, or by car it takes about an hour.
