This lovely town house has a very special location on the bank of the River Aude yet is only meters from the market places and cafes. The interior was renovated in 2012 to a high standard and is stylishly decorated. The elevated decking provides a perfect place to relax by the river or entertain with the terrace as an additional space to eat alfresco. The first floor balcony provides a further place to sit and enjoy the views.

The front door brings you into the open plan kitchen living space that can be divided up to suit. The large wood burning fire has an integrated system that heats the first floor rooms . The fully fitted kitchen has a large central island with sink and dishwasher plus storage and seating. The flooring is dark bamboo throughout. All the work tops are hand made in solid Wenge. Double French doors open up to the covered porch with steps down to the terrace and further steps all the way to the decking and river side.

Bespoke wooden stairs take you to the first floor landing. At the front of the house is a double bedroom with a third mezzanine bed . There are tall French windows and shutters with a street view.
Next to this is the shower room which has a double sink unit on an original carpenters bench. The power shower unit is fully tiled and with shelving.
The toilet is in a separate room off the landing and on the riverside of the first floor is the family reception room with French doors onto a south west facing balcony with views of the chateau, river and mountains.

The stairs then lead to the top floor landing which has a double bedroom to the front and the main bedroom looking out on the riverside. There is a separate storage room built into this room. This could be either kept as storage or easily converted to an ensuite. The top floor has wooden floors and exposed beams.

The house would be a perfect family house but also as a holiday rental opportunity due to its town location and beautiful riverside setting.

The vendors would be prepared to offer furniture for sale with the property with prices to be discussed. This would be particularly favourable if using as a rental property as an income could be generated very quickly.

Quillan and its surrounding area has become a very popular location for tourists. The town has a good selection of cafes, shops and restaurants and holds two market days per week. In August two of the main attractions are the International Cycling criterium and Town fete and the Tour de France is always passes through or nearby. Within a short drive there is the family friendly swimming lake of Puivert and the pretty medieval town Mirepoix.


The town is well placed to visit the famous city of Carcassonne (58km) with its modern centre and medieval Cite or alternatively drive through the mountain passes to the beach and city of Perpignan (78km). The town has a Railway station which is on the Quillan – Carcassonne route where you can get connections to major train lines or visit the towns and villages on the way. The travel cost has been kept at 1 Euro each journey for the last 2 years.
